MEETING AT  THE THRESHOLD:
Resilience Skills
for Uncertain Times

August 4th - 14th 2026

The interconnected systems that uphold ‘Business as Usual’—the habits, assumptions, and structures of modernity that offer the illusion of certainty, control, and endless progress—are beginning to unravel. The stability we once leaned on—the familiar, the predictable, the known—can no longer be taken for granted. As these foundations shift, we find ourselves at a threshold, facing a future that feels increasingly uncertain and unknowable.

Navigating this threshold means stepping into the liminal space between what has been and what is yet to emerge. It is both a courageous and humbling act—an invitation to release the false comfort of certainty and turn toward the rich, fertile ground of uncertainty, complexity, and interdependence. The challenges we face—personally and collectively—cannot be met with the same thinking or tools that created them. Instead, they call us to imagine and embody new ways of being in relationship: with ourselves, with each other, and with the more-than-human world.

At the heart of this inquiry is the question of resilience—not as individual endurance or toughness, but as an ongoing, relational capacity to adapt, respond, and stay connected in the midst of change. Through this lens, we come to see resilience as something that emerges not in isolation, but through networks of support, shared meaning, and collective care.

Thresholds are not crossed once, but again and again—in moments of presence, in acts of courage, in gestures of vulnerability. They ask us to move with the unknown, to listen deeply, and to respond with imagination and integrity. And, perhaps most importantly, they invite us to do this together—discovering new ways forward through connection, collaboration, and community.

Meeting at the Threshold is a nine-day residential community experience grounded in this wider understanding of resilience. Through experiential workshops, systemic practices, ritual, shared inquiry, and hands-on collaboration, we will explore what it means to meet the shifting ground of our times with creativity, care, and kinship. Together, we will cultivate the inner and collective resources needed to navigate this moment in human history—and to begin imagining new ways of being that honour our deep belonging to each other and the living world.

What This Course Offers

  • Navigating Uncertainty: Tools and practices to cultivate resilience and presence amid the unfolding polycrisis.

  • A Map of Resilience: We will explore a layered map of resilience across five interconnected realms:

    • Personal emotional/psychological resilience

    • Group/team resilience

    • Community resilience

    • Ecosystem resilience

    • Connection to transpersonal, archetypal, and ancestral realms

  • Community Building: Develop skills and frameworks to foster resilient and adaptive communities, whatever your context.

  • Practical Collaboration: Over three days, we’ll engage in a shared practical task, such as constructing a timber-growing room or cabin (tbc) for the Bjärkan project. This hands-on work will develop skills in group collaboration, problem-solving, and practical craftsmanship.

  • Inner and Collective Work: Explore how personal growth and healing intersect with larger systemic shifts.

  • Rituals for Transition: Engage in meaningful rituals to support our capacity to sit in the liminal unknown spaces

  • Shared Connection: Be part of a network of seekers and changemakers grappling with similar questions about these times.

The course is structured to include plenty of free time to explore the beauty of the land, take time out for swimming in the lake, relaxing into simply being and also to include space for participants to make offerings to the schedule if they would like to.

Who is this for?

This course is for those who feel called to tend the thresholds of both their inner and outer worlds. Whether you’re a practitioner, changemaker, or someone deeply attuned to the shifts happening in our shared reality, Meeting at the Threshold offers a container for reflection, growth, and collective engagement.  It is particularly suited for those seeking to strengthen their capacity to build resilient, connected communities in the face of uncertainty.

Step into this space of possibility. Together, we’ll explore how the personal and the collective dance through these thresholds, finding clarity and courage in the face of uncertainty.

I help shift paradigms in how we work beyond traditional hierarchy. My focus is finding new approaches to work that foster collaboration and resilience in complex, fast-changing environments - whether in businesses, communities, sustainable living projects, or global social movements.

Nick Osborne
Two weeks at Bjärkan wasn't enough time for me. I wish I could have stayed longer immersed in the wild and beautiful surroundings of this unique place. Having no experience of group living I was surprised at how easy it was. The group activities designed to delve deeper into the mind and spirit is another reason I would have liked to have been there longer. The feel of Bjärkan is so conducive to this and I felt so much more open "
