Nestled amongst the seemingly endless forests, lakes and rivers in the wilderness of northern Sweden, on the edge of the Norwegian mountains, lies this unique venue to host extraordinary experiences.

For many kinds of events for up to 20 people there is a room for workshops/training/meetings, a dedicated space for community gatherings and ceremony, an indoor sauna, an outside wood-fired sauna, an outside wood-fired hot-tub, a lake in walking distance and waterfalls and mountains close by. It's a perfect place to reconnect with what matters most—discovering deep stillness, spaciousness, and a sense of belonging in the heart of nature.

Event Space

For Workshops, Training Sessions, Yoga & Dance etc

Our spacious events room is a warm and versatile setting for all kinds of gatherings. With underfloor heating to keep it cosy even in the depths of winter, the 44 sqm space comfortably hosts up to 20 people in various seating arrangements. Once the ground floor of the old barn, it now offers a characterful and nourishing atmosphere, with stone flooring, a feature brick wall, and exposed wooden beams.

Traditional Goahti Hut

For Community Circles, Meditation

& Ceremony

Tucked at the edge of the forest beside the lively, flowing stream, the Goahti Hut is a sacred, grounding space for quiet reflection and deep connection. Built in the traditional Sámi way using birch poles from the surrounding land, it holds the warmth and wisdom of the old ways. With its central fireplace and earthy simplicity, it’s a powerful setting for community circles, meditation, and ceremony—an invitation to slow down, listen deeply, and feel the presence of the land.

Sauna

Wood-fired Sauna

Once a laundry house and goat shed, our riverside sauna has been lovingly restored into a warm and welcoming space for up to 10 people. Nestled beside the stream, it’s the perfect place to unwind, cleanse, and connect—whether sweating in the heat or plunging into the cold river or snow for an invigorating contrast. In Sweden, the bastu is more than a tradition; it’s a ritual of renewal, a communal experience, and a deep-rooted part of the culture. At Bjärkan, it offers a beautiful pause—a return to simplicity, warmth, and elemental rhythm.

Wood-Fired Hot Tub

Scenic Soaking in Our Wood-Fired Hot Tub

Our wood-fired hot tub fits up to five people and looks out over the lakes towards the mountains. Tucked into a quiet spot on the land, it’s an unforgettable place to relax—ideal for sunset soaks, starlit evenings, or watching the northern lights shimmer across a snowy sky.

Outdoor Spaces

Natural Gatherings for Living, Learning, and Connection

The land around Bjärkan offers a rich tapestry of outdoor spaces designed for both living and learning in close connection with nature. Fire circles, forest groves, clearings, and simple seating areas create natural places to gather—whether for group work, shared meals, quiet reflection, or ceremony. The stream that winds through the land provides refreshing bathing spots, while the open areas lend themselves to eating together under the sky. These spaces shift with the seasons and weather, offering a versatile setting for embodied learning, deep connection, and the simple joy of being outdoors.

Facilities & Accommodation

On-Site Accommodation, Communal Facilities, and More

The farmhouse kitchen is fully equipped, making it a natural hub for shared meals and conversation. For group retreats or events, we also offer delicious, nourishing vegetarian catering. Bedrooms are warm and rustic-chic, offering comfort and character in equal measure. Two cosy lounges and a chill-out area with books, games, and art materials provide space to relax, connect, or simply unwind by the fire. We can also accommodate live-in vehicles and camping on the land, and there’s a nearby hotel and local cabins for rent for additional guests just a short distance away.

Wilderness Location

Set within Sweden's 'Alaska'

Situated in the Ansättfjällen region, with the vast lake just moments away and wilderness stretching toward the nearby mountains, the land invites deep connection and exploration in every season. Whether walking among birch and pine, sitting by still waters, or gathering in open meadow, the environment supports nature-based practices and meaningful encounters with the living world. Depending on the time of year, activities such as hiking, skiing, dog sledding, fishing, or boating can all be enjoyed—each offering a different way to meet the land and its changing moods.

Aurora Borealis

See the Northern Lights at Bjärkan

From September to April, Bjärkan offers frequent opportunities to witness the northern lights in all their wonder. With minimal light pollution and wide open skies stretching across lakes and mountains, this is an ideal place to experience the aurora in its natural splendour. Whether viewed from the warmth of the hot tub, beside a crackling fire, or out in the stillness of the snow-covered land, the lights bring a sense of awe and connection—an unforgettable part of being here in the darker months.
